Rose Lugo, Ed.D.
I am a storyteller at heart and have been fortunate to develop my skills over 20 years of experience in the media industry. Along the years, I held different editorial roles at outlets like Globo Network, FOX Latin America, and CNN en Español. I was also blessed to lead media initiatives for several faith-based organizations including Regnum Christi, Loyola Productions, and Guadalupe Radio.
I am passioned about empowering media users to critically analyze the messages they consume and create content to promote the common good. In the media age that we live in, I have noticed a tangible gap between people’s faith and the media they consume at large.
I started Rose Lugo News to help believers connect the dots between mainstream media and their values. Although a cradle Catholic, I hope to help faith leaders in all traditions to take media literacy to their congregations to help God’s people engage, influence, and create media in a way that advances the common good.
I earned a doctoral degree in education, with research in media literacy, at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California; I conducted graduate studies in television and film at California State University of Los Angeles; and I hold a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte in Brazil.
I am fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, and I am eager to engage with audiences in all three languages. I live in Florida with my husband Tony and our @LugoPack, the cutest pets ever known to human kind. (PSA.: Adopt, don’t shop!)
